Archie (GH-611)
Archie has grown up to be a fine young man. He will be 2 in September as best we can guess. He is a long term foster because of a rare heart defect and a grade 6 heart murmur. He lives with his foster mom and dad Bill and Barb Schaefer and his foster brother and sister Ben and Sadie and Mickey the cat.
Archie does not know how sick he is, he runs and plays with everyone that comes to visit. At the picnic last year people were surprised to see how he plays with all the dogs.
He goes to the Matthew J. Ryan Vet Hospital in Philadelphia every year for a costly check up. He is not yet on any medications but doctors have told us what to look for to know when he needs to be brought in right away.
Thanks to GoldHeart Archie is living a good and full life. Will he live a good long life, we don't know but he is living a good life for sure.
If you would care to donate to Archie's long term care please hit the donate button below.
Thank you
Bill and Barb Schaefer

Chance (GH-626)
09/23/2011 - There is a new star at the rainbow bridge…
March 2010 our foster dog Chance was diagnosed with cancer - it was estimated he would have about 3 months with us.
We were blessed with 19 months with this wonderful boy. He was “Chancy-Pants” to us.
Chance was also Mr. March in the Goldheart 2011 Calendar.
He will be forever in our hearts.
Thank you for donating to the Goldheart long term foster program to help dogs like Chance get the "chance" they deserve!

Cody (GH-726)
Cody is an 11 year old male and has been in the GoldHeart family quite some time. His arthritis seems to be getting worse and his abitlity to do the steps is becoming limited so it was decided by the GoldHeart board to make him a Long Term Foster.
Cody will get to spend the rest of his days with his foster family and the GoldHeart family will keep him as healthy and happy and pain free so he has quality of life for as long as possible.

Dallas (GH-740)
Meet a well-educated and well-mannered pup. Dallas has the energy of a young adult and the manners and training of a real gentle pup. As you can see from his photo, he is rather refined and quite fashion conscious.
He will be 11 years old in October, 2011, but do not let his age fool you. Dallas will bound up the steps, and run outside with the best of the pups. But to be honest, he does also enjoy a good nap or two! He has a beautiful chestnut color coat and is in very good shape at 75 pounds. Dallas is very well trained. He knows and obeys all of the basic commands such as sit, stay, come, eat, sleep, etc.; he does not jump on furniture or counters. He gets along with other pups.
What Dallas needs is a home with someone to love him forever. If you have love to give, Dallas will in turn provide Golden love to you. For more information, please contact Linda lheil@verizon.net, if you have completed the GoldHeart application, had a home visit, and have been approved. |

Gizmo (GH-743)
Gizmo is a very sweet, gentle, laid back 8 year old male retriever. He loves attention and love. He naps a lot and is not a very active dog. He is excellent on short walks but will tire out on longer walks. He is very over weight and is missing a lot of teeth. He eats dry kibble and dog biscuits. He is great with other dogs and strangers as he is a submissive and affectionate dog. Gizmo is very much house trained, is not a chewer or counter surfer, shows no panic to thunderstorms or anxiety when left alone. and very rarely barks.
Gizmo is a touch anemic and should have another blood test in 6 months, but otherwise is in good health. He was not a very vibrant dog when we got him and seemed obviously sickly. He was treated with antibiotics (dual ear infections) and had bad teeth removed. He now is a happy dog who loves napping and attention. He would fit in well in any type of home.
If you are interested in adopting Gizmo, please fill out the adoption application. If you are an approved adopter please contact foster Mom at debknuth04@comcast.net. |
Lilly (GH-758)

Goldheart is happy to share with everyone that Lilly has found her forever home and her adoption is pending.
While there was an enormous amount of interest in Lilly, and the rescue is extremely grateful for that, there were some issues with Lilly that needed to be addressed individually to ensure a permanent and happy new home.
To that end it was decided that the foster parent needed to review the approved applications anonymously to find and visit the potential home for Lilly. We at Goldheart are so fortunate to have so many potential adopters interested in our dogs, and we know that everyone wants the best for these wonderful animals. We ask that everyone understand if there are special circumstances with a dog we may need to conduct adoptions in this individualized manner to ensure the most successful situation for both dog and adopter.
Thank you for your continued support and interest in Goldheart. |

Luke (GH-629)
Even though Luke is only 6 years old his seizuers have been hard to control. He is very comfortable with his foster family and GoldHeart feels that it would be in Lukes best interest health wise to keep him in LTF care so he can get the proper medical treatment. If you would like to donate towards Lukes ongoing care please click on the donate button below.

Rainey (GH-722)
This sweet, very loyal, eager to please golden wannabe has really come a long way from being a stray that GoldHeart rescued from a high kill shelter in North Carolina. She is believed to be between 1-2 years old, weighs about 64 lb. and will probably always have a short coat. She is quite settled in the house where she will curl up at your feet wherever you may be but is a rough and tumble girl when playing in the yard with her foster brother. She loves to play fetch with the large Jolly Ball and will play keep away but eventually brings it back to you especially if you have a yummy treat to trade.
She really enjoys playing with toys inside and has never chewed anything that wasn’t hers. Nylabones are her chew toy of choice. Having few manners when she first came to foster care, she now knows sit, down, stay, come, and is walking very nicely on a leash and really likes her daily walks. She has learned a good ‘leave it’ command and hasn’t been countersurfing as she did when she first came. She was housebroken right from the start and has never had an accident. She definitely aims to please and had no problem feeling very comfortable in new situations like the vet office and the obedience class she attended with her foster mom where she outshone the other dogs. She only went for the last 3 classes of the session so it was quite an accomplishment and her foster mom was so proud. At first, she didn’t like being handled but with patient understanding to earn her trust she now is calm for grooming including ear cleaning, nail trims, brushing(even her tail which was the hardest part) and tooth brushing. She loves a ride in the car. She is crate trained but is fine if left on her own.
She tested heartworm positive(no symptoms) and has been successfully treated but it will be necessary for her to remain on monthly heartworm meds with heartworm testing a year from the initial heartworm treatment along with the usual vet care.
Though she is great with people she has had a few skirmishes with her foster brothers and definitely doesn’t like dogs in her face. She has learned to be peaceful with her foster brothers but it took strong leadership from her foster mom to overcome this shortcoming. She also has a high prey drive, especially for cats. A home where she is an only pet and children 10 yrs. or up would be best for her. A fenced in yard to play in will be a necessity.
If you would like to know more about Rainey and have an approved application on file with GoldHeart please contact her foster mom at goldengang@comcast.net

Sam (GH-340)
In 2006, Sam was taken to his Vet by his owners to be euthanized because he "wouldn't settle down during storms." The Vet who knew Sam for quite some time simply couldn't bring himself to destroy this really nice boy. The Vet had the owners sign Sam over to the vet clinic. As Sam's now legal owner, the Vet asked for help placing Sam with a Rescue Organization. Sam was eight years old.
To make a long sad story short, GoldHeart was able to take Sam. Sam was placed with a foster home in August, 2006. It was during a routine medical checkup that some growths were deemed suspicious. The biopsy showed four growths that were mast cell tumors, grade 2. Even with Sam's poor medical prognosis, Sam was adopted in December 2006. While with his adopted family, Sam had another operation, removing even more of his left shoulder muscle. In January 2007, Sam was returned to the foster home family in January 2007, because of compatibility issues with other pets.
Moving to 2010, Sam is still with his original foster home as a forever foster pup (LTF Long-Term Foster). He is doing fine, and gets along great with his Golden brothers and cousin. He is getting up there in age and has a lot of trouble moving around due the massive tissue loss in his two surgeries, but still finds it in himself to rough house with his brothers. He is on medication and is constantly monitored for any more suspicious growths.
If you would like to donate to help care for Sam and other LTF Goldens, please click on the donate button below.

Tucker (GH-754)
Meet Tucker,Tucker is a very energetic and well mannered 7 to 8 year old. Don't let his age fool you. This boy has alot of energy!
He gets a long well with other dogs but should be fed seperatelyt at feeding time because he will finish his meal and try to take the other dogs which could lead to a fight. His mealtime manners need some work. He loves to rough house with our young golden and they both don't know when to quit. He listens very well to commands such as sit, stay, come, shake, down. He loves to go on his daily walk. He loves to be where ever family members are. He also does quite well riding in a vehicle, you wouldn't even know he's with you. He is definitely a family pet as he loves attention and returns it with plenty of love.
Health wise the only issues he has is an ear infection and a skin irritation from coming in with fleas, this is being cleared up by antibiotics and ear drops. So if this sounds like the golden for you Tucker is definitely ready for his forever home.To make an appointment to see Tucker you may e-mail me at krhsr1952@g-mail.com or call me at (717) 843-7228 Keith or my wife Darla. |
