GoldHeart Expenses

Each year our expenses increase as veterinary care and materials increase. The amount we collect when a dog is adopted rarely covers the expenses incurred. Below includes typical vet services for dogs coming into the rescue; however, some dogs need more vet services and this results in a higher average cost per dog.  For example, average costs were closer to $800 per rescued Golden during calendar year 2013.

Veterinary Care and Supplies
Physical examination $45.00
Vaccinations $70.00
Heartworm/Lyme Disease Testing $50.00
Fecal Testing for worms $30.00
Spay $325.00
Neuter $200.00
CBC Bloodwork (if needed) $150.00
Supplies (HW/Flea/Collar/Leash) $30.00

Average cost for a male $375.00
Average cost for a female $500.00

* CBC Bloodwork is conducted on the older dogs and those with suspect medical problems.
