After seeing the Vet today, Bella’s toe has started to heal, but it is not where it needs to be for the cast to come off. Today’s x-ray showed callus formation between the two pieces of broken bone (callus is the beginning of new bone), but not actual bone. The vet wants another x-ray in 4 weeks with bandage changes weekly. Please check back soon!
Update from 3/12/17 – Bella just loves playing with her foster sister and in all good fun, broke her toe (ouch) in early March, and she is sporting a stylish bandage now and is again putting weight on it. The broken bone is the lateral (last) toe on her left foot. It is the next-to-last bone in the toe and it is expected to heal fast. She will be seeing the Vet again next week for another bandage and if all goes well, her bandage will come off the week of the 20th. Bella is a very sweet and smart pup, and no surprise…she is VERY active! Bella is also working hard to become reliable in the house, but still has accidents, so this continues to be a work in progress. Once Bella gets the all clear from her Vet, we hope she will be ready to start the search for her forever home.
We still believe beautiful Bella is under a year old, and just a few months older than originally posted. Her Vet believes she is no younger than 9-10 months old.
Bella is an international rescue and made the journey to the USA after initial vetting in Egypt, landing at JFK on the 15th of February with several other golden GoldHeart rescues. Bella was microchipped after arrival, picked up by her foster family and is under going evaluation and vetting.
Please check back soon for updates.
